1999

Private Tutor

Having done IGCSEs in Mathematics and Economics early, started tutoring students from the age of 14 years.

Eventually tutoring students in Mathematics, English, History and Art up to A Level.

In 2011, founded a tuition center in Bradford, UK to cater to young students struggling with the mainstream school system.

2001 - 2003

Sales Assistant

Aged 16, worked part time at Nine West shoe store on Kensington High Street, while studying for A Levels.

Made top seller 8 months in a row, marking first professional achievement.

June to September 2003

Sales and Warehouse Assistant

After A Levels, worked 7 days a week at a boutique fashion retailer. Mostly managing the warehouse, tracking stock and maintaining systems.

Restaurant and Bar Server

Served lunch and dinner at a friendly, family run restaurant on a part-time basis. 

2003 - 2006

Negotiator

First foray into office based work, really loved being part of a great team at Alexanders.

Felt an aptitude for systems, processes and people, 3 areas that became a strong theme further on.

Restaurant and Bar Server

First experience working in a night club setting, including working the door.

Learned to make cocktails and enjoyed being in the service industry , particularly considering the breathtaking location.

Nightclub Photographer

Worked in many of the nightclubs in Soho and Piccadilly Circus (London) to photograph revellers and generate sales from the prints.

Sales Assistant

Taking on 3 jobs at the same time to fund university, really enjoyed the juggle of it.

Every opportunity and experience had a strong learning element, allowing for growth and development that carries through into future roles.

Negotiator

Headhunted to become a founding member of the team at the new Cardiff Branch of Savills Estate Agents.

It was a privilege to experience the highly corporate culture of the UK market leader, but very quickly learned that this culture did not align with personal goals.

Having moved to a new city, joined Yorkshire Forward, marking the first stop in a long career in British Government bodies.

The leadership at Yorkshire Forward inspired and built confidence to move onto bigger and more challenging roles.

Taking on the second position in the civil service sector, was able to experience some of the early preparations for the London 2012 Olympics and support a very dynamic and interesting team.

Having joined as a project coordinator covering 60% of NHS England, was able to take on many different roles over 7 years gaining experience and knowledge in IT Reporting, Analysis, Knowledge Management and Organisational Governance amongst other areas.

Cabinet Office Secondment

Was seconded to the UK Cabinet Minister of Health (Jeremy Hunt). 

Producing high level reports for the Minister, maintaining strict government protocols and ensuring quality of delivery.

Tourism Consultant

Continuing with the experience gained from the family business, ventured into the tourism sector  in Sri Lanka, to provide social media, customer service and customer experience consultation to boutique and luxury villas and hotels, with a particular focus on sustainable family and child friendly travel.

Master Life Coach

Embarked on a new life trajectory, stepping away from the corporate and civil sectors. 

Coaching 120+ clients over the last 10 years, specialisation has grown in coaching niches such as Parenting, Education and Empowerment.

Fine Artist

With a lifelong passion for painting, sculpture and film making, and having painted with gouache since the age of 3, held the first solo exhibition in London in 2016, titled "Nature through the eyes of faith and love"

This exhibition was consequently shown in Sri Lanka in 2017 as part of the Galle Literature Festival. 

Exhibited, a 6ft "stained glass window" at Colomboscope 2017.

Painted Sri Lanka's largest painting in 2018, approximately 100 sqm. 

2015 - Present

Social Media Influencer and Consultant

First embarking on an influencer journey on Facebook, then moving to Instagram, Tiktok and YouTube, have built a combined following of more than 60,000 followers. 

Known primarily for content on sustainable lifestyle, education, parenting and empowerment.

Consults with sustainable businesses that seek to grow their authentic content. 

In 2024, was selected as one of the top 10 positive influencers in Sri Lanka.

Children's Author and illustrator

Combining the love of teaching and art, started writing and illustrating a series of children's books that are specially designed to develop curiosity, imagination and vocabulary in young readers.

Sustainability and Green Solutions Adviser

Supporting small to medium organisations to review their products, processes and operations, understand where improvements can be made to be more green and design solutions that are effective and budget friendly.

Fashion Designer 

Creating a new style and method of block printing and designing colourful and playful block printed designs, launched Pathanny Fashion with the aim of producing sustainable heirloom garments. 

Currently halted due to the lack of materials available in Sri Lanka.

Trainer

Spent 4 months training the nurses, midwives and doctors of Joseph Fraser Maternity Hospital in patient lead care. 

Focused on delivering contextual, culturally specific  and sensitive training to all maternity care staff and designing protocols and processes for the hospital that would enable a high standard of patient centric care. 

2024 - Present

Co-Founder and Principal of Independent Collective School

In Jan 2024, founded Sri Lanka's first democratic formal school, delivering a personalised Cambridge curriculum, with the focus of preparing students for an AI driven future.

For most of my life, due to economical background, have had to do at least 2 jobs at any given time.
